April 10th has come and gone and Pizzeria Caldera is still closed. We’ve not taken this decision lightly. As previously stated, our primary concern is the health and safety of our staff and customers. Currently we know that all of our employees are healthy and the majority of them have either already started receiving unemployment benefits or will very soon.
In addition, we have applied for the Paycheck Protection Plan. While it’s unknown if we will get what we’ve applied for, when it will come and if there will be enough funds to cover all the businesses who have applied, we’re hopeful it will happen soon and that it will allow us to put everyone back on payroll whether we’re open or not. And despite news of the application process being arduous and details of the plan unclear, we’ve found the opposite to be true. The details of the plan are fairly straight forward and clear when you read them (tons of information available on the Treasury Department website), and our local US Bank branch (whom we have done our business banking with since day 1) has been incredibly helpful and efficient. Thanks much to Phil Coosaia and his team!
Unfortunately we do not have a proposed opening date at this time. With current state-wide orders keeping many businesses closed through April 30, we plan to keep an eye on that date and continue to monitor the situation between now and then.
